About
On the record.
Beach Clubs records operations, not buildings. It is the first register in the system whose unit is an action: a club is what happens on a shore through its season, and on many shores the structure that houses it is carried away when the season ends.
The register records who holds the operation and since when, whether a day on the shore can be bought without the night, and — where a source gives them — the permit and its term. Every figure carries the date it was read and the holder under whom.
The Day Belongs to the Club. The question this collection asks of every record: Is there a beach club here — its own name, its own programme, its own service on the sand? It sees the operation and is blind to everything else. That blindness is the design.
- 01 · UnitThe operation, not the thingA key that names a building cannot name Club 55, whose building comes down every October. What persists is the operation.
- 02 · TimeA season is not a deathA club that did not open this year is dormant and stays in the register. A club whose concession was not renewed is withdrawn, with grounds. Confusing the two empties the register every autumn.
- 03 · JoiningKeys, never copiesThe shore is cited by its Beach Matters code, the resort by its collection code. A copied field ages silently; a key does not.
- 04 · SensorThe day, and the shoreAn operation enters when it has its own face on the shore — its own name, its own programme and its own service on the sand — and passes the bar on one of four grounds: an article in the Library that describes it, a shore it sets on its own, an Italian rating, or the operator's own publication of the club, its day on the sand and the way to it. How the day is sold is a label, not a condition. A bar tab is not a day, and a park gate is not a club.
- 05 · EvidenceRead under a holderA price read under one owner says nothing about the house after it changes hands. The register records when each figure was read and under whom, and a report that is not a source is a reason to check, never a citation.
- 06 · CoverageWhere a rating countsIn the 2026 Edition a rating is a ground of entry only in Italy. The register searched for a published, graded measure of beach clubs in France, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, Greece, Türkiye, Thailand, Mexico, the Caribbean and the United States, and in global lists, on 29 September 2026, and found none: the guides that inspect there grade kitchens, not clubs, and the rest are votes or unranked lists. Not searched: Gault&Millau España, Gault&Millau Türkiye, the Greek Golden Toques; Time Out Dubai could not be read. Outside Italy a club therefore enters on an article of the Luxury Hospitality Library that describes it, or by setting the shore it stands on. Clubs awaiting measure wait because there is nothing to measure them with, not because they were not measured. The search is repeated each Edition; a publication that appeared after 29 September 2026 has not been looked at.
The numbering
The series is LHL-U, issued by the Library and used here, as LHL-I is. The letter is taken from the middle of the word — cl·U·bs — because B and C were already held.
The register does not rank
No field here means better or worse. Entries are described, not scored. Where a property is one day marked Preferred, that will be a commercial relationship, labelled as one, and kept out of the editorial fields entirely.
How complete an entry is
The register is published while it is being written, and every entry says which state it is in: structured record, editorial entry, source-verified. Nothing is presented as confirmed before it is.
Tiers
Core · Selected · Extended · Watchlist · Historic — identical on every surface of the House. A property's tier may differ between collections.
The House
Beach Clubs is one collection of The Collection House. Overlaps with other collections are shown on each record as Also in the Library, never merged: one property may hold several cards, each a different text.
