Fantini Club
A large lido at Cervia on the Adriatic, open from mid-March to mid-October, selling umbrellas, loungers and beach suites at published prices.
Fantini Club stands on the Adriatic shore at Cervia, in Emilia-Romagna, with its own car park fifty metres from the sand on viale Italia. Around the beach the operator runs a restaurant, a spa, the three-star Sportur Club Hotel and the Villa Fantini apartments, and it takes weddings, company events and private parties.
The beach is open from mid-March to mid-October, and every beach service can be booked online, by telephone or by e-mail. The day is sold by the place under the sun: a lounger costs seven euros for the day or five for half a day, and an umbrella with two loungers starts at twenty-six euros a day in the second section. Beyond the umbrellas the operator offers suites by the sea, straw suites, king beds, canopies and lounge beds. The restaurant opens at weekends and on holidays from mid-March to mid-May, every day until mid-September, and at weekends again until mid-October, with a dinner service from eight to midnight.
A long season for the coast. The beach opens in mid-March and stays open into October, well beyond the summer months that frame most of the Adriatic.
Prices in plain view. The cost of a lounger and of an umbrella is printed on the operator's own page, with a half-day rate for those who come late.
More than the sand. The Fantini Wave Spa sits beside the beach and is opened to children on Wednesday mornings; the car park is free from Monday to Friday.
Who it is not for
Fantini Club is wrong for anyone looking for a small, quiet beach: it is a large operation with a hotel, a spa, events and weddings around it. It is wrong for a visitor who wants the restaurant on a weekday in spring or autumn, when it opens only at weekends and on holidays. And it is wrong for someone travelling between mid-October and mid-March, when the beach is closed.
