Peperittima Beach Club

A family bathing establishment on the Milano Marittima sand, with a wider-spaced zone at the front and umbrellas booked by telephone.

Peperittima Beach Club stands on the beach at Milano Marittima, the resort on the Romagna coast within the commune of Cervia, on the Adriatic. The operator places it in front of the Majestic Hotel, at the X and XI Traversa, the numbered side streets that run down to the sand; the Cervia tourist office lists it on the state-owned shore as concession 304/305 at the XI Traversa, with Piero Boni named as the contact. The operator describes a safe beach without rocks, with the pine wood behind.

The day is sold as an umbrella with deckchairs, and there is a separate gazebo area where a place can also be taken. The operator publishes no prices and no season dates. It asks visitors to telephone to reserve an umbrella; no online booking was found. A restaurant works on the beach: the operator's menus run from breakfast to dinner, with fish and meat first courses and local produce where possible, and its restaurant page gives dinner from Monday to Thursday by reservation only.

A zone with more room. The operator sets aside what it calls the Esclusive Zone, where the umbrellas stand further apart than on the rest of the concession. It is the one part of the day that is sold on space rather than on services.

Built around children. The operator lists a mini-club and entertainers, a playroom and play areas, and reports the Bandiera Verde, the paediatricians' flag for beaches suited to small children, alongside the Blue Flag. The tourist office adds a swimming school and a nursery.

A full programme on the sand. Water aerobics, Zumba, Pilates, yoga and Nordic walking are offered, with sailing, kitesurfing and paddleboarding, and bowls, table tennis and five-a-side football. The establishment has joined the commune's accessible-beach project.

Who it is not for

Peperittima is wrong for anyone who wants quiet: the programme of fitness classes, games, entertainers and a mini-club is the point of the place. It is wrong for someone who wants to book and pay online in advance, because the way in is a telephone call and no prices are published. And it is wrong for a visitor who needs dinner at the weekend, since the restaurant page gives dinner only from Monday to Thursday.
