Marino 1958

A bathing establishment on the Numana seafront turned beach club, with spaced umbrellas on gravel, a restaurant above the sand and suites.

Marino 1958 stands at Via Litoranea 3 on the seafront of Numana, in the Marche, on the Adriatic below Monte Conero, a short way from the town centre and within the area of the Conero nature reserve. The beach is fine gravel. The house describes its own change from a bathing establishment to a beach club, with service kept as it has been since 1958; the company is Marino1958 di Pincini's srl. Besides the beach it keeps a restaurant and bar in a modern building with a bioclimatic pergola, reached by lift from the street, and a hotel with suites.

The day is sold by the umbrella: white umbrellas and loungers with built-in cushions, set apart for privacy, booked online through a beach booking system or by telephone and e-mail. Drinks and meals are brought to the umbrella. The operator publishes no price, hours or season for the beach. An online booking can be refunded only as a voucher at the club, within two days of its start. Changing cabins, hot showers and staff watching the beach complete the service.

Space between the umbrellas. The operator makes the distance between places its point: each umbrella stands far enough from the next to give its guests some privacy.

A restaurant above the beach. The restaurant serves aperitivi, lunch and dinner under its pergola, with a view of the sea in any season; fish, burgers and pizzas are on the list, with gluten-free dishes.

Reachable without a car. A bus stop stands in front of the establishment.

Who it is not for

Marino 1958 is wrong for anyone who wants soft sand: the beach is fine gravel. It is wrong for someone who needs a cash refund on a cancelled online booking, since refunds come as a voucher at the club. And it is wrong for a traveller who wants to know the price of the day before arriving, because the operator does not publish it.
