Bagni 77

Bagni 77 stands at 77 lungomare Dante Alighieri in Senigallia, on the Adriatic coast of the Marche. It is run by Filippo Maria Borioni and Romano Borioni as a partnership. The establishment is built in fine woods, among them ipé, which needs no chemical treatment, with furniture by young local craftsmen and a bar shaped as a dune in the sand.

The day is sold as a white umbrella with loungers, or as a cabin, booked online, by telephone or by e-mail. Each umbrella is two hundred and twenty centimetres across and has about thirteen square metres of space around it. Standard cabins are offered alongside suite cabins, each with its own hot shower, sockets and a chaise longue. The operator publishes a price list with daily, weekly and monthly rates. The bar runs from breakfast to after dinner: sourdough croissants and organic juices in the morning, cold fish and meat dishes at lunch, tapas and cocktails at the aperitif. On the sand are courts for beach volleyball, beach tennis and five-a-side, with floating loungers, canoes and paddleboards for hire.

Room under each umbrella. At thirteen square metres an umbrella, the spacing is the operator's stated point, not a by-product.

Built to be reached. There are accessible cabins with showers, ramps and bathrooms, a walkway to the water's edge and a chair for getting into the sea.

Water and power counted. Umbrellas and loungers are washed in a machine that recovers up to seventy per cent of its water, the showers run on heat pumps and some umbrellas carry solar panels. The operator received a Travel and Hospitality Award in 2022.
