DRIFT Beach Dubai

DRIFT Beach Dubai stands in the grounds of One&Only Royal Mirage, in Dubai, on the Arabian Gulf with the Marina skyline and Palm Island Bay in view. The operator calls it a beach club, French restaurant and sea lounge; the day is spent between an infinity pool and a private beach. The kitchen is French and leans on seafood and the Riviera; a 2020 profile credited the menu to Chef Maxime Le Van.

The day is sold by the place: sun loungers around the pool, beach and lawn, which include a locker; cabanas for two, expandable to four; island beds for two; beach houses for up to six; and a private villa on request. Prices differ between weekday and weekend and are largely redeemable against food and drink. Bookings go through SevenRooms or by telephone. No one under sixteen is admitted to the restaurant or beach club, and guests aged sixteen to twenty must come with a parent; in the beach houses, the operator adds, children are allowed only on the beach area.

A restaurant first. The club runs a set two-course French lunch on weekdays and a rotating seafood menu on Fridays, and the pool and sand serve the table rather than the other way round.

A programme through the week. A ladies' pass on Tuesdays and Thursdays, a Saturday afternoon party with live music and a Friday evening candlelit swim give each day a different crowd.
