The beach club of Fasano Punta del Este stands on La Barra beach at Punta del Este, in Uruguay. It belongs to the Fasano hotel, and the hotel calls it simply the Beach Club. It opens only during the high season; outside it there is nothing on the sand.

The day is part of the stay. Towels, chairs and umbrellas are provided free to Hotel Fasano guests and to Las Piedras associates, and to no one else that the operator names. No public way to buy a day on the sand was found: the hotel publishes no day pass, no price and no booking for outside visitors, and for anything further it refers enquiries to its concierge. The club serves light meals and drinks with a view of the sea.

Guests and associates only. Access is set by belonging, not by payment: a hotel booking or Las Piedras association is the way in.

A high-season club. The operator states plainly that it opens only in high season, so the club follows the summer of the southern hemisphere.

Light by design. The food is described as light meals and drinks, not a full restaurant service on the sand.

Who it is not for

This beach club is wrong for anyone not staying at the Fasano and not a Las Piedras associate: no way in was found for an outside visitor. It is wrong for a visit outside high season, when it is closed. And it is wrong for someone who wants a long lunch on the sand, since the club offers light meals and drinks.
