Tamara Beach Club Cabo stands on Médano Beach in Cabo San Lucas, within the ME Cabo hotel in the hotel zone, with a view across the bay to the Arch. The club describes itself as open to the public, though it sits inside a hotel, and it is for adults only: guests must be eighteen or over. The look is rustic and bohemian, the kitchen leans on seafood — ceviches, tostadas, tacos — and there is a DJ through the day.

The day is sold by place on the sand: sunbeds, island or half-moon beds, beach lounges and cabanas, reserved through the club's own channels, by phone, WhatsApp and e-mail, or on OpenTable. The booking listing puts entry from MXN 500. For residents of Baja California Sur with official identification there is a Local Day Pass from August to December: MXN 1,200 paid, MXN 1,500 of credit received. The dress code is resort casual.

Adults only, without exception. The age rule is stated by the operator and repeated on the booking page; there is no family area.

A rate for locals. The resident pass, credit worth more than its price and offered in the low season, is aimed at people who live on the cape rather than at visitors.

A restaurant with its feet in the sand. A local guide treats Tamara first as a place to eat, under an executive chef, Gilberto Rojas, with the tables set on the beach itself.

Who it is not for

Tamara is wrong for families: no one under eighteen is admitted. It is wrong for a visitor hoping to use the resident rate, which requires official Baja California Sur identification and runs only from August to December. And it is wrong for anyone who wants a quiet beach, since there is a DJ through the day on one of the busiest bays of the cape.
