Bagno di Gili

Bagno di Gili stands at Turtle Point on Gili Meno, one of the Gili Islands off the north-west coast of Lombok, in Indonesia. It occupies the shore above the Turtle Point snorkelling reef. It is run by The Lombok Lodge Hospitality, a family-owned group founded by Ben and Anja, whose lodge on Lombok is fifteen minutes away by the group's own shuttle boat. The site holds nine beach gazebos, air-conditioned safari tents for overnight stays, and an open-fire grill restaurant that also serves dinner.

The day is sold by the gazebo. A full day, from ten in the morning to half past five, is for two people and costs 240 US dollars per gazebo, with taxes and service on top. It includes beach and bathroom towels, snorkelling equipment, water shoes, use of a glass-bottomed canoe, showers, and an open-fire lunch for two. Reservations must be made twenty-four hours ahead, by WhatsApp or e-mail, and deposits are not refunded. No closure notice was posted when the pages were read.

Built on a reef. The gazebos face the Turtle Point reef, and the day includes a guided snorkel among sea turtles and an introduction to the operator's turtle conservation programme, with feeding of young turtles. A sunset horse ride and the adoption and release of a young turtle can be added.

Cooked over fire. Lunch and dinner come from an OFYR open-fire grill under Chef Jiwa, with a chef's table on offer; the evening is sold separately, as a dinner reservation rather than as part of the day.

Small by design. With nine gazebos and a day product priced for two, the shore holds few people at a time; the operator itself calls this Gili Meno's quietest beach.
