Tau Beach Club
A pool-and-beach club in Marina Vallarta, opened by Velas Resorts in 2021, that sells a day pass and serves the guests of the adults-only Casa Velas.
Táu Beach Club stands on Avenida Paseo de la Marina in Marina Vallarta, the residential marina district of Puerto Vallarta, in Jalisco, Mexico, with access to the Bay of Banderas. Velas Resorts opened it on 30 January 2021 as a separate beachfront venue for its resort Casa Velas, which runs transport between the two. The name comes from the Wixarika language, in which it means sun.
The club is open from ten in the morning to ten at night; pool and beach service ends at five, and dinner runs from six to ten. The day is sold as a day pass from ten to five, with dinner charged separately. The operator publishes no price. The places are sun loungers with umbrellas and Bali beds, around a pool and a jacuzzi, with showers, changing rooms and a private car park. Bookings are by telephone.
Two ways in. For guests of Casa Velas the club is part of an all-inclusive stay, with transport to and from the resort; for everyone else the way in is the day pass.
Adults only. The resort's page and the opening announcement both describe the club as adults-only; the club's own page states no age rule.
Day into dinner. The sand closes at five but the house does not: the evening is a separate dinner service, with an evening menu, cocktails and wines.
Who it is not for
Táu Beach Club is wrong for families with children: it is described as adults-only. It is wrong for anyone who wants to stay on the sand into the evening, since pool and beach service stops at five. And it is wrong for someone who wants a remote shore; it sits within a residential marina district, with its own car park at the gate.
