Cala Bassa Beach Club

The first of the CBbC clubs, spread along Cala Bassa on Ibiza's west coast, with beds by zone and three restaurants under the junipers.

Cala Bassa Beach Club stands on Cala Bassa, a bay of about two hundred and fifty metres of sand on the west coast of Ibiza, in the commune of Sant Josep de sa Talaia and on the Bay of Sant Antoni. It is run by CBbC Group, which began here: the group says more than a decade ago, and a restaurant guide gives 2011. The group now runs further clubs and restaurants on the island.

The day is sold by the place: sun loungers spread across the beach, some in full sun and some in the shade of the junipers, and double and triple Balinese beds in different settings, with gazebos facing the water. Loungers and beds are booked through the operator's CoverManager pages under the names of the different areas — Chiringo, Central, Portobello and a champagne-branded lounge. The operator publishes no prices and no season dates on the page read. A dinghy service, massages and shops complete the day.

Who it is not for

Cala Bassa Beach Club is wrong for anyone who wants an empty cove: the bay is fully laid out with loungers, beds and three restaurants, and in high season a reservation is needed. It is wrong for someone who wants the price in advance, because none is published. And it is wrong for anyone who wants a single quiet table, since the day is sold by area, with music and a dinghy service working along the bay.
