Tropicana Ibiza

Tropicana Ibiza stands on Cala Jondal, a pebble cove on Ibiza, in the municipality of Sant Josep de sa Talaia, between Sant Josep and Ibiza Town. It is reached by road, with parking, or from the water: the operator offers to take orders out to a boat at anchor or to bring guests ashore.

The day is sold as beds on the beach — an area of hammocks and Balinese beds meant for the whole day — with a restaurant for a slow lunch under umbrellas and a beach bar serving breakfast, sandwiches, salads and meat to chill-out music. The beach is open every day from ten in the morning to half past six in the evening. Sunbeds are booked only through the operator's online system; telephone, Instagram and e-mail bookings are not taken. The restaurant and the beach bar each have their own booking line. The operator publishes no price, and an independent guide says prices vary with the season and the area of the beach.

Online or not at all. The bed is bought through one channel only, and the operator says so in capitals. There is no telephone to call for a favour.

A season released in instalments. Availability is opened progressively rather than for the whole summer at once, and the operator advises checking back for a given date.

Three ways to spend the day. The hammocks, the restaurant and the beach bar are booked separately, so a lunch does not require a bed, and a bed does not commit anyone to the restaurant.
