Gecko Beach Club

Gecko Beach Club stands on Playa de Migjorn at Ca Marí, on the Migjorn shore of Formentera in the Balearic Islands. It belongs to Gecko Hotel & Beach Club Formentera, whose restaurant on the sand is called Orilla. The day is built around hammocks and sunbeds facing the Mediterranean, with chill-out music from a DJ and cocktails at the beach club.

Outsiders buy the day directly from the operator, in two forms. The sunbed pass gives access to the club, a sunbed, water and a towel for one, and parking; the operator prices it per person at fifty euros in April, May and October, seventy in September and ninety-five in June, July and August. The day pass is sold per couple and adds a welcome cocktail, a lunch of starter, main course and dessert, and an hour of kayak or stand-up paddle board; it costs two hundred and forty euros in April, May and October and three hundred and forty from June to September. Both run from noon to eight in the evening. Bookings go through an online reservation widget, by telephone or by e-mail. The hotel's page on a hotel-group site states that it closes for the season from November to April.

The price follows the calendar. The operator publishes a different rate for each part of the season, so the same bed costs nearly twice as much in August as in May.

Lunch and the sea included. The day pass folds the meal and an hour on the water into one price, rather than leaving them to the bill.

A noon start. The club opens at twelve, not in the early morning, and closes at eight.
