Neguri
The beach club of Zel Punta Cana on Bávaro Beach: a thatched, Mediterranean-minded restaurant with beds on the sand, which its operator lists as open to the public.
Neguri stands on Bávaro Beach at Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic. It belongs to Zel Punta Cana - All Suites, a 190-suite all-inclusive resort on Av. Alemania that Meliá Hotels International runs in partnership with Rafael Nadal; the resort completed its transformation from the former Garden Suites by Meliá in 2025. The resort's buildings and its stretch of sand are a five-minute shuttle ride apart, and Neguri is the part of the house that sits on the beach. The operator gives it the line "The Mediterranean with a Caribbean Soul": a thatch roof, wooden tables, woven lamps and a fusion kitchen that cooks Mediterranean dishes with local Caribbean ingredients.
Meliá types Neguri as a beach club and states that it is open to the public. What it offers on the sand is Balinese beds at the water's edge, used both for eating and for lying out, with a chill bar and a cocktail bar alongside; enquiries go to the hotel's e-mail address, and the hotel also sells day passes. No price for the beds or the pass is published, and the operator's page gives no opening hours.
A club inside an all-inclusive. For guests of the resort Neguri is one of the venues included in the stay. For anyone else the operator's own listing calls it open to the public, so the same beds serve both.
A monthly party and a Friday menu. Once a month the club holds JALEO, a party on the beach given over to music; on Fridays it serves a tasting menu at dinner by the sea.
One club among several. Bávaro is a shared shore lined with resorts, and neighbouring Meliá and Paradisus resorts run beach clubs of their own. Neguri is a place on that shore, not the shore itself.
Who it is not for
Neguri is wrong for anyone who needs to know the cost of the day before going: neither the beds nor the hotel's day pass carry a published price, and the operator gives no hours. It is wrong for a traveller looking for an independent beach club with its own identity, because this is a resort's restaurant on a resort shore, with other hotels' clubs on either side. And it is wrong for someone who wants a quiet afternoon on the day of the monthly party.
