Harbour Lights
A beach club, dinner-show stage and Friday night club on Carlisle Bay, where the day costs a published cover charge and a lounger.
Harbour Lights stands on Carlisle Bay, the bay at Bridgetown, Barbados. The address is Marine Villa, Bay Street, in the parish of St Michael. The sand in front of it is the same bay the club's snorkel trips go out on, to the turtles and the shipwrecks offshore.
The day is sold openly, online, by the operator. The cover charge is 12.50 US dollars a person and buys a lounger with a shared umbrella, together with wifi, showers, changing rooms and bathrooms. A guaranteed place in the front or second row costs more; open seating is the base rate. Arrival is booked in hourly slots from half past nine to half past twelve. Packages build on the lounger: a snorkel combination, a day with lunch and a snorkel tour, and a transfer package that collects passengers from the cruise port, stores luggage and takes them on to the airport. Bookings are made on the operator's site, by phone or by e-mail.
One venue, three businesses. By day it is a beach club; on Wednesday and Thursday evenings the same site stages a dinner show from half past seven to half past ten; on Friday nights it opens at nine as a night club with house drinks included until two.
Every age by day, adults by night. The operator says all ages are welcome at the beach club. The Friday night club is for eighteen and over, with original photo identification only.
Built around the cruise and the flight. The transfer package is written for a visitor with a ship behind them or a plane ahead: port pick-up, luggage held, airport drop at the end.
Who it is not for
Harbour Lights is wrong for anyone who wants a quiet, small beach: the same venue runs a dinner show and a night club, and its packages are shaped around cruise-ship arrivals. It is wrong for a group under eighteen hoping for the Friday night, which is adults-only with original ID. And it is wrong for a guest who wants a fixed front-row place without paying for it, because open seating is the base rate.
