La Zebra Beach Club
The beach of a fifty-room hotel on the Tulum coast road, with day beds sold online to anyone who books.
La Zebra Beach Club belongs to La Zebra, a hotel at kilometre 8.2 of the Tulum–Boca Paila road, in the coastal hotel zone of Tulum on the Caribbean Sea. The hotel is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World and lists fifty rooms over two floors; its villas and suites have decks that lead down to the sand. A restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner facing the water.
The day is sold as day beds, booked through an online reservation system linked from the operator's page; no guests-only rule is stated. Two products are offered there: La Zebra Beach Club day beds and the day beds of Lula by La Zebra, the hotel's sister address. The operator page publishes no price, minimum spend or hours; these appear only inside the booking flow, which was not read. On the sand, day beds stand under thatched parasols, with cocktails and coastal Mexican cooking brought to them.
Two beaches under one name. The operator now presents a La Zebra Beach Club and a La Zebra Mediterranean Beach Club, the second mixing Caribbean and Mediterranean cooking, with a rooftop lounge for the sunset.
A hotel's beach first. The club is the shore of a working hotel, and the guests of its fifty rooms share the sand with those who book a bed for the day.
Themed nights. A 2023 review noted themed dinners in the restaurant, among them a taco night.
Who it is not for
La Zebra Beach Club is wrong for anyone who needs to know the cost before booking: the operator does not publish prices or minimum spends outside its booking system. It is wrong for a traveller without a booking who hopes to walk in, because the beds are sold online. And it is wrong for someone looking for a large, independent club with a night programme: this is a hotel beach.
