Taboo Tulum

Taboo Tulum stands at kilometre 7 of the Tulum–Boca Paila road, in the hotel zone south of Tulum on the Caribbean coast of Mexico, about ten minutes from the town. It spreads across some 2,000 square metres of white sand, with a pool, wooden loungers and rustic cabanas facing the sea, and a restaurant set on a natural dune. It is run by Grupo RosaNegra, which keeps two other beach clubs in Tulum and a second Taboo in Los Cabos.

The beach club is open from eleven in the morning to seven in the evening. Entry is by cover fee, half of which is credited towards food and drink; the operator gives the figure only in its booking flow. Standard loungers and tables can be reserved through OpenTable with a fifteen-minute grace period; VIP areas are paid in full online in advance, with half credited, and VIP bookings close at two in the afternoon. The club is for guests of fifteen and over.

A restaurant first. The group presents Mediterranean cooking as the house's character — lobster, tuna tartare, a vegan menu — with a cocktail list built on the four elements and a list of champagnes, wines and cavas.

Shows as well as music. Beside the resident DJ, the club programmes saxophone and violin sets, fashion shows and what it calls bottle happenings, and keeps a shisha lounge.
