Le Méridien Beach Plaza
A hotel's own beach on the Larvotto shore of Monte Carlo, opened to day visitors through a summer pass.
Le Méridien Beach Plaza stands at 22 avenue Princesse Grace in Monte Carlo and keeps its own beach below the hotel within the Larvotto Marine Reserve. The hotel calls it Monaco's only private beach. It is not one of the public concessions on the Larvotto beach next door, although at least one recent account groups it with them. Shade comes from maritime pines, and swimming is lifeguarded.
The beach is open from April to September, with Alang, the hotel's beachfront restaurant, serving on shaded decks and on sunlit loungers. It is the hotel's beach, run by the hotel, and outsiders reach it through La Plage & More, a day-pass programme that gives access to the private beach, the indoor and outdoor pools, the sauna and the fitness centre, with a Kids Club in July and August. No price for the programme is published on the hotel's pages; the hotel's telephone is +377 93 30 98 80.
A pass rather than a sunbed. The day is not sold as a lounger on the sand but as access to the hotel's whole summer offer, beach, pools and spa facilities together.
A marine reserve at the water's edge. The beach lies inside the protected Larvotto Marine Reserve, and the hotel describes the water in front of it as clear and the setting as protected.
Different hands before. In 2019 another beach operation, Twiga, ran some two hundred loungers on this beach; it is not the current offer.
Who it is not for
Le Méridien Beach Plaza is wrong for anyone travelling between October and March, when the beach is closed. It is wrong for a visitor who wants to know the cost before calling, because no price is published. And it is wrong for someone who wants only a sunbed by the sea for an hour: the day is sold as a full pass to the hotel's facilities.
