Byblos Beach
The beach of the Hôtel Byblos on Pampelonne, opened in 2019 and now shut for the winter until the end of April 2027.
Byblos Beach stands at 42 boulevard Patch on Pampelonne, the long bay in the commune of Ramatuelle, about ten minutes by car from Saint-Tropez. It is the beach of the Hôtel Byblos in Saint-Tropez, which opened in 1967, and is held with the hotel by the Floirat group. The beach opened in 2019; that summer its general manager, Christophe Chauvin, called it an honour to be on Pampelonne. Like its neighbours on the bay it is a seasonal concession. It has now closed for the winter and announces its return for Thursday 29 April 2027.
The day is sold as a place on the sand. There are 120 wide sunbeds of solid wood with double headrests, under parasols of open-weave braided rope, and behind them a restaurant of 110 covers under shades cut like sails. Reservations go to the beach by telephone and e-mail, with no restriction to hotel guests stated, and tables can also be booked online. The operator publishes no sunbed price. The tourist office lists a boat shuttle, valet parking and mattress hire; the restaurant stays open into the evening in July and August.
A hotel garden on the plate. The kitchen is Mediterranean and seasonal, and takes produce from the hotel's own permaculture garden, some seventy varieties grown on 300 square metres, alongside local suppliers.
Room for children. The operator lists a children's menu and eco-designed beach toys among what the beach provides.
Boats, wood and rope. The décor is drawn from the sea: sail-like shades over the terraces, rope parasols and wooden loungers, in the hotel's words a stylish but laid-back place.
Who it is not for
Byblos Beach is wrong for anyone travelling between October and the end of April: it is closed until 29 April 2027. It is wrong for a guest who wants to know the cost of a sunbed before calling, because the operator publishes none. And outside July and August it is wrong for anyone who wants the evening on the sand, because it closes in the early evening and the bay's nights belong to other houses.
