Moorea Beach

Moorea Plage stands on Pampelonne, at the chemin des Moulins in Ramatuelle. It began in 1952 as, in its own words, a simple bamboo straw hut with about twenty mattresses, two sunshades, a barbecue and a menu of a few Provençal dishes; in 2024 it counted seventy years on the same sand. Christophe Coutal and his team run it today, with a jetty and a shuttle by water alongside paid covered parking on the land side.

The day is sold by the place: deckchairs in the front and second rows, beds on the sea's edge and canopy beds, under grey, white and turquoise parasols, with towels hired apart. The operator lists a bed at the sea's edge at a hundred and eighty euros. The beach is reserved by telephone only, on a line separate from the restaurant's. It is open seven days a week until nine in the evening, and the kitchen serves from noon to five.

Telephone only. There is no online booking for the sand. A place on the beach is made by calling the beach desk, on its own number.

More than a lunch. Beside the beds there are shops and a run of services rarely found on the sand: a hairdresser, an osteopath, a masseuse and a reflexologist.

Music after lunch. The bar and terrace carry DJ sets and live music, and the beach turns livelier in the late afternoon.
