Tropezina

Jardin Tropezina stands on Pampelonne, the long bay below Ramatuelle, at 325 Allée de la Mer, a short distance from the Château de La Messardière. It is one of the concessions on the public shore of the bay, and like them its structure is demountable. The beach belongs to Airelles, the group that runs the château as a hotel; the hotel's own pages call it its beach club and list it among the hotel's waterside offerings, with no stated restriction to residents.

The day is sold as private sun loungers on the sand, with a restaurant, a bar and a boutique, Vanille & Lilas, behind them. The beach is open every day from ten in the morning to six in the evening. Beds cannot be booked online: reservations open one month in advance and are taken by telephone and e-mail. The operator publishes no price for a lounger. The kitchen is directed by Jean-François Piège, and the menu is Mediterranean — grilled fish and meat, Niçoise salad, grilled langoustine, a Provençal lamb estouffade.

Designed to a single hand. The loungers and the setting were designed by iKKim'O, an artisanal French brand, so the beach is furnished as one piece rather than assembled item by item.

A hotel's beach that sells the day. The beach answers to a hotel on the hill above, but the booking line is open to anyone who calls a month ahead; nothing on the operator's page reserves the beds for residents.

Music on the sand. The hotel lists live music and DJ sets at the beach, and the space takes private events for up to one hundred and fifty people.
