La Mandala

La Mandala stands on the sand of the Croisette in Cannes, the seafront boulevard of the town, on the Côte d'Azur. It combines a beach, a restaurant and a bar lounge. Its own pages describe a decoration of natural materials and nude tones, and a kitchen of Mediterranean cooking built on fresh fish and shellfish. The operator does not name its owners or the year it opened.

The day is sold on the sand as sunbeds and mattresses with service at the water's edge. La Mandala is wrong for anyone who needs to know the cost before choosing: no price is published. It is wrong for someone who wants the evening in high summer, since the beach hours run from ten to six and evening opening was announced only for a few late-September days. And it is wrong for anyone looking for a quiet, undeveloped shore: this is a private beach on the seafront boulevard of a city.
