Le Goéland

A family-owned private beach on the Croisette, the first after the Palais des Festivals, run by the same family since 1981 and open through the year.

Editorial entry · sources recorded · operator confirmation pending

The Plage Goéland stands on the Boulevard de la Croisette in Cannes, on the sand of the town's main seafront. The operator places it as the first private beach after the Palais des Festivals and in the heart of the town. It is a beach with a restaurant behind it, among the private concessions that run along the seafront.

The Grizzetti family has owned it since 1981. The day is sold as a sun lounger for the day, at a published rate of 30 to 50 euro depending on the season, with the parasol included; a towel is hired separately for 8 euro. Booking is by telephone or e-mail. The beach is open every day from ten in the morning to half past seven in the evening, and the kitchen serves breakfast, lunch, an aperitif and tapas, with dinner in July and August.

A price on the page. The sunbed rate is published by the house itself, so a visitor knows the cost of the day before arriving.

One family for over four decades. The operator presents the Grizzetti family as owner since 1981 and describes the house as family-run and warm, rather than as a club or a brand.

A winter beach. The operator says it receives guests all the year round. The only closure it has published is a short annual break in the depth of winter, and that notice dates from 2023.

Who it is not for

The Plage Goéland is wrong for anyone who wants a long evening on the sand outside high summer, since dinner is served only in July and August and the beach closes at half past seven. It is wrong for someone who wants to be away from the town, because it lies beside the Palais des Festivals at the busiest end of the Croisette. And it is wrong for a visitor looking for design or theatre: it is a plain family beach.
