Lucia Cannes
A Croisette beach restaurant opened in 2024 by the group behind Nikki Beach, with lunch all year and walk-in sunbeds from spring to autumn.
Lucia stands on the Croisette in Cannes, a restaurant on the beach. It was opened in March 2024 by Nikki Beach Hospitality Group, the company founded in Miami Beach in 1998 by Jack and Lucia Penrod, as the first house of a new name, distinct from Nikki Beach; a second Lucia has since opened in Marbella. The site was earlier listed under the Nikki Beach name and now trades as Lucia.
The house describes itself as a beachfront restaurant first. Lunch is served from noon to five all year, with an aperitivo from six to ten in June, July and August. The beach runs from mid-April to mid-October, from half past ten to six. Sunbeds are not reserved: they are for walk-ins only, and are let for a minimum of two guests. Tables are booked through SevenRooms; a reservation, the house notes, does not guarantee entry. No price is published.
The beds go to whoever is there. No lounger can be booked ahead, so the day depends on arriving in time rather than on a reservation.
A door policy. Entry requires a visible face, bags may be checked, and the house asks for Mediterranean dress and turns away sportswear, hoods and offensive imagery on clothing. Children are welcome with a guardian, apart from certain evenings kept to adults.
A kitchen of the sun. The menu, overseen by the group's corporate executive chef Alessandro Pizza, draws on France, Italy, Lebanon and Turkey.
Who it is not for
Lucia is wrong for someone travelling alone who wants a lounger: sunbeds are let to two guests or more. It is wrong for anyone who needs a bed held before leaving the hotel, since beds cannot be booked. And it is wrong for a beach day between mid-October and mid-April, when only lunch is served.
