Lo Scoglio delle Sirene stands at Marina Piccola on Capri, on Via Mulo, facing the Faraglioni, the rocks that stand in the sea off the island. The operator calls it a bathing complex and a reserved beach. An independent guide places its sunbeds on the rock that divides the two small beaches of the bay, so a large part of the surface is rock rather than sand. The name refers to the sirens of the island's legend.
The day is sold as sunbeds, deckchairs, towels and parasols, with showers, changing rooms and lockers; the operator presents its beach service as a day by the sea. Booking is by telephone or e-mail. No price is published. The beach service runs every day from nine in the morning to six in the evening; lunch and takeaway are served from eleven to four. No season dates are published.
A kitchen of the island. The restaurant cooks Capri dishes, among them ravioli capresi and fresh pasta made in the house, and fish, with a terrace over the bay of Marina Piccola and a snack bar beside it.
Reached from the water. The house keeps a mooring field with a shuttle to the shore, so guests can arrive by boat and be brought in.
The sea as well as the rock. Single and double kayaks are hired out for paddling along the coast of Capri, and a small shop stands on the site.
Who it is not for
Lo Scoglio delle Sirene is wrong for anyone who wants a sandy beach, because the beds stand largely on rock. It is wrong for a visitor planning a trip outside high season without telephoning first, since no season dates are published. And it is wrong for someone who wants the evening by the water: the beach service ends at six and lunch at four.
