Da Luigi ai Faraglioni
Open since 1936 below the Faraglioni, with a snack bar for those who want the umbrella and not the lunch.
Da Luigi ai Faraglioni stands at Via Faraglioni 5, above the small bay framed by the Faraglioni and the Monacone stack. The sundecks are cut into the rock at the water's edge. The way down is a path through coastal pines from the Belvedere di Tragara, about half an hour on foot from the Piazzetta. The return can be made by the club's own boat, which lands at Marina Piccola, at La Canzone del Mare, and a transfer from Marina Grande can be booked the day before.
The restaurant and bathing establishment opened in 1936. It is open from half past eight in the morning to seven in the evening, and the terrace kitchen serves from midday into the late afternoon. The day is priced on its own: entry, booked in advance, includes a sunbed or deckchair and a locker, part of the entry price returns as credit at the restaurant, and an umbrella is charged separately. Beach cabins stand on the rocks. The season runs from late April to early October; evening events are held on request, not as a programme.
Who it is not for
Da Luigi is wrong for anyone who decides on the morning: entry is booked the day before. It is wrong for someone who cannot manage a half-hour path down to the sea and would rather not depend on a boat for the climb back. And it is wrong for a guest who wants the evening, because the club closes at seven. For a club reached by road on the same coast, La Canzone del Mare at Marina Piccola is a short bus or taxi ride from the Piazzetta.
