Warung Beach Club

A small beach club on the cove at Masua, on Sardinia's south-west coast, selling stations under umbrellas and gazebos alongside boat trips.

Warung Beach Club stands directly on Masua Beach, a small, flat beach of golden sand in the commune of Iglesias, on the south-west coast of Sardinia; its postal address is Nebida. The coast here runs between the Grotta Azzurra, Porto Flavia and Fontanamare, and the beach lies about twenty minutes by car from the centre of Iglesias. No founding date or operator name was found on the club's pages.

The day is sold as a station on the sand: umbrellas, gazebos, sunbeds and tables in an area kept for guests, with towels, a lifeguard, showers and washrooms, and staff who serve at the station. Umbrellas and loungers can be taken for the day or for longer. The beach club is booked through an online form on the operator's site, and by telephone, WhatsApp and e-mail. The operator publishes no prices and no season or hours. A restaurant under a named chef takes its own table bookings, and aperitifs are served at sunset.

Shade as the product. Besides umbrellas, the club sells places under gazebos and canopies, which give shade through the hottest hours and more privacy than an umbrella row.

The coast from the water. The same operator runs boat trips from the beach, at sunset and by full moon, to Porto Flavia from the sea and to the via ferrata at Pan di Zucchero, and rents out rubber boats, canoes, pedal boats and paddleboards.

Who it is not for

Warung Beach Club is wrong for anyone who wants a large club with a pool or a long programme of facilities: this is a small beach with umbrellas, gazebos and a restaurant. It is wrong for someone who wants to see the price before booking, because none is published. And it is wrong for a visitor without a car or a boat, since the beach lies some twenty minutes' drive from Iglesias.
