Da Adolfo
A lunch restaurant on the sand at Laurito, east of Positano, reached by its own free boat, with sunbeds paid for on arrival.
Da Adolfo stands on Laurito, a small beach reached by boat from Positano, on the Amalfi Coast. It is a restaurant before it is a beach: the operator's booking page is a table reservation, and an independent guide describes lunch with one's feet in the sand. The restaurant opens for lunch from one to four in the afternoon. The operator runs a free boat for its restaurant clients from the pier at Positano, leaving every half hour from ten until one, and returning from four until six. The boat takes no more than ten people and cannot be reserved.
Sunbeds are offered alongside the table. A bed can be requested with the booking, is confirmed three to five days ahead if one is free, and is held only until half past eleven on the day. Whether booked or not, the bed is paid for directly on arrival, and the operator publishes no price for it. Tables can be booked online for groups of up to twelve; larger groups must contact the restaurant.
The day runs on the boat. The timetable of the free boat — out in the morning, back in the late afternoon — sets the shape of a day at Laurito, between a late-morning arrival and the last return.
A bed that must be claimed early. A reserved sunbed is kept only until half past eleven, so the bed belongs to those who come on the morning boats, not to those who arrive for lunch.
Open to families and dogs. Children are welcome, and pets are allowed on a lead.
Who it is not for
Da Adolfo is wrong for anyone who wants an evening out: the restaurant serves lunch, and the boat stops in the early evening. It is wrong for a group larger than ten that wants to travel together on the free boat, which carries no more than ten and cannot be reserved. And it is wrong for a visitor who wants a booked and prepaid bed whatever the hour, because the bed is released at half past eleven and is paid for only on arrival.
