Belmond Romazzino Beach Club
The beach of the 1965 Romazzino hotel on the Costa Smeralda, reopened by Belmond in 2024 with a new club, a beach grill and the guide's top rating within a year.
The beach club stands on the bay of Romazzino, in the commune of Arzachena on the Costa Smeralda in north-east Sardinia, at the foot of the hotel of the same name and some forty minutes by car from Olbia airport. The bay looks out towards the La Maddalena archipelago and faces slightly east, which keeps its water sheltered and unusually calm for this coast. The hotel was designed by Michele Busiri Vici and inaugurated by the Aga Khan IV in 1965, in the first years of the Costa Smeralda.
Belmond has operated the hotel since 2024 and reopened it that June after a renovation led by Studio Palomba Serafini, with work by Sardinian artisans. The beach was given an entirely new club: new sunbeds, cabanas and bars, a beach grill called Éntu e Mari with an open kitchen, and a Beach Bar for coffee, ice cream and light food. From the hotel's own dock run paddle boards, kayaks, water skiing and a tender along the coast. No public way to buy the day was found: the operator publishes no day offer, price or booking route for visitors, and no hours or season were read.
Rated within a year. The 2025 Guida ai migliori beach club d'Italia gave the club, then in its second season, three gold umbrellas, its highest rating, shared that year with two other Sardinian clubs. The rating was repeated in the 2026 edition.
An old name, a new operation. The hotel has stood on the bay for six decades, but the club is Belmond's work from 2024; what was written about the beach under earlier owners does not describe the present one.
Sport as well as sand. The dock gives the beach a programme on the water that most clubs on this coast leave to the boats moored offshore.
Who it is not for
The Romazzino beach club is wrong for anyone who wants to plan a day there from outside the hotel: no public way to buy a sunbed or a day was found, and the operator publishes no price, hours or booking route for visitors. It is wrong for a traveller who wants the evening on the beach, since nothing was read of night service there. And it is wrong for someone looking for a scene on the sand, because the bay is sheltered and the club built around the hotel's own day.
