Bagno Maitò

Maitò stands at Via Arenile 28 on the seafront of Forte dei Marmi, in Versilia, on the Tyrrhenian Sea, with the Apuan Alps behind. It began in 1960 with one of the first restaurants in the town set directly on the sand. In 2023 the entrepreneur Stefano Nesti joined the Maitò restaurant, the Maitò bathing establishment and the former Orsa Maggiore into one site, with a pool of about three hundred square metres; the cabins of the 1960s were kept.

On the sand the product is the imperial tent, each furnished with three sun loungers, three sunbeds, two director's chairs and a lockable table, with a bathrobe, flip-flops, a beach bag and a daily change of towels. Drinks and a light lunch are brought to the tent from half past twelve to half past three. The beach club is open from nine to half past six on weekdays and to eight at weekends. The operator does not say whether tents are let by the day or the season and publishes no price; enquiries go to a beach club telephone line and e-mail.

A restaurant first. The restaurant has kept its form while the beach club around it was enlarged. It serves lunch and dinner and closes on Tuesdays.

A pool on the beach. Suites, cabanas and water islands are set around the pool, where aperitifs and dinner are served, and at the opening the sunbeds were made to turn into dinner tables.

A summer house. The restaurant, the pool and the dinners by the pool close for the winter.
