Bagno Piero

One of the oldest bathing establishments at Forte dei Marmi, opened in 1933 and kept by one family since.

Editorial entry · sources recorded · operator confirmation pending

Bagno Piero stands at Viale della Repubblica 101 in Forte dei Marmi, near the Versiliana park, on the Versilia: the flat Tuscan sand between the Apuan Alps and the Tyrrhenian, laid out in private establishments. It keeps its historic cabins, lifeguards on the beach, and umbrellas, tents and loungers for hire by the day; wooden pedalos can be taken out from the sand. Dogs are admitted.

Sebastiano and Siria Santini opened the establishment in 1933. Their son Gian Piero followed, and their grandson Roberto ran it until his sudden death on 10 September 2026, at sixty-three. In the 1970s the family built a swimming pool a few metres from the sea — a bet that looked senseless at the time and succeeded, because that stretch of water is not clear every day. The restaurant stands beside the pool. A day for two loungers was put at about eighty euro in 2025.

A pool beside the sea, built on purpose. The pool that made the house's name was an answer to the water in front of it, not an ornament added to a view.

Three generations of one family. The establishment passed from the founders to their son and to their grandson without leaving the family.

Who it is not for

Bagno Piero is wrong for anyone who wants the Versilia's newer formula of the tent with its own cabin: for that, Alpemare and Twiga are on the same coast. It is wrong for a swimmer who wants the sea alone to carry the day, since the house itself was built around a pool for the days it does not. And it is wrong for someone who needs to know who holds it next season: the register has no source for who runs it after September 2026.
