El Chiringuito Es Cavallet

El Chiringuito stands on Es Cavallet, a beach in the municipality of Sant Josep de sa Talaia on the south of Ibiza, inside the Ses Salines nature reserve and a few minutes by road from Ibiza town. It opened in 2009. The name has since travelled: there are operations of the same name at Puente Romano in Marbella and in Dubai, but this is the first of them.

The day is sold on the sand as sunbeds, double beds and Balinese beds. The operator sets a minimum spend for the beds by zone and by season, and publishes no sums. Sunbeds are booked by telephone or WhatsApp, not online; tables for the restaurant can be booked online. The operator says it is open daily during the season, without naming the months, and a booking guide notes that it closes over the winter. The menus run from breakfast and juices to lunch and desserts, described by the operator as simple, honest and deeply connected to the island.

The single loungers stay public. The operator states that single sunloungers on the beach are public and cannot be reserved; only the beds in its own zones are booked and carry a minimum spend.

A nod to Saint-Tropez. Indagare describes the house as French-owned and as a nod to Club 55, with a European menu touched by Asian elements; a guide lists Spanish, Italian and French influences in the cooking, from oysters to grilled fish.

A garden for children. A fenced kids' garden, which the operator calls the Little Chiringuito, sits beside the restaurant, and a guide reports entertainment for children every afternoon.
