La Guérite Beach

La Guérite Beach stands on the bay of Saint-Jean in Saint-Barthélemy, in the Caribbean. The beach is public, and three clubs share it. The house opened in the spring of 2023. It is the second address on the island of La Guérite, a restaurant on Île Sainte-Marguerite off Cannes that came to Saint-Barthélemy in 2015 with a restaurant in Gustavia. The brand belongs to DB Group, which also runs a La Guérite at D-Maris Bay in Türkiye.

The day is a long lunch by the water followed by cocktails into the late afternoon. The house opens every day at half past ten, and lunch is served from noon to four. Tables are booked through SevenRooms or by telephone, and an independent listing advises booking at least a day ahead. The operator publishes no price for the day.

An island house abroad. The name and the cooking come from a restaurant on Île Sainte-Marguerite, across the water from Cannes, which began, by one account, as a fisherman's cabin. Saint-Jean carries the name from one island to another.

A Greek chef at a Mediterranean table. The kitchen is led by Yiannis Kioroglou, from Athens, who cooks a Mediterranean and Caribbean menu of plates meant for sharing, built on grills, herbs and marinades.

Sand held in common. The beach in front belongs to the public, not to the house. A guest who books here shares the bay with walkers, swimmers and two other clubs.
