Shellona

A Greek beach restaurant on Shell Beach in Gustavia, opened in 2017, which closed in 2026 to make way for another name on the same sand.

Shellona stood on Shell Beach in Gustavia, Saint Barthélemy, facing the Caribbean Sea. The cove was once called Anse de Grand Galet; it took the name Shell Beach after the dredging of the port in the 1960s and 1970s left sand and shells there. Shellona opened in 2017 as a Greek restaurant, with Mediterranean cooking under the executive chef Yiannis Kioroglou, open every day from eleven to six, lunch served until four. Its own pages offered the table and were silent on the sand; sunbeds on the beach appear only on the page of the neighbouring hotel, Fouquet's Saint-Barth of the Barrière group.

The Barrière group states that Shellona has closed its doors to make way for Loulou, a beach restaurant opening in November 2026, and a French guide places Loulou on the site of the former Shellona. Posters on the island's forum reported the closure at the end of April 2026. Shellona's own page, read in October 2026, still carried an undated notice of a summer closing and a reopening on 21 October.

Shellona cannot be visited: the restaurant has closed, and another house is due to open on the same site in November 2026.
