La Guérite Sainte-Marguerite
A restaurant with sunbeds on a cove of Île Sainte-Marguerite, reached by boat from Cannes.
La Guérite stands on a rocky cove of Île Sainte-Marguerite, the island off Cannes, and the house dates its welcome to 1902. It is a restaurant of about a thousand square metres with some four hundred square metres of sand at the water's edge, looking back across the whole bay of Cannes. It is reached only by boat: a shuttle runs from the harbour office at Port Canto, and during the film festival from Mouré Rouge.
The day is sold as sunbeds on the sand, with an umbrella and a towel. The house names no price in its own pages; the Cannes tourist office listing for 2026 gives two hundred euro for the front row and one hundred and fifty for the rows behind, for a season from 7 May to 11 October. The kitchen, under the chef Yiannis Kioroglou, cooks by oven, charcoal and barbecue. Bookings go through the house's own reservation system or by telephone.
Who it is not for
La Guérite is wrong for anyone who wants to walk to the beach: the island is reached by boat, and the shuttle sets the day. It is wrong for a long stretch of sand, because the house has about four hundred square metres of it. And it is wrong for a visitor who wants to stay into the night; the day ends at six in the evening.
