La Scogliera
Teak platforms on the cliff beyond Positano's Spiaggia Grande, facing the Li Galli islands, with daily numbers capped.
La Scogliera lies a few hundred metres past the Spiaggia Grande at Positano, beside the Marincanto beach club. It is built on the rock: teak platforms fixed to the cliff, terraces over the sea and a thin strip of sand. It looks out to the Li Galli islands.
Admission is a product in its own right and includes a lounger, an umbrella, towels, the showers and water; packages with lunch and wine are sold above it. Lunch is served on the terrace. Numbers are capped each day, and places are booked ahead. On some days the club stays open past sunset for DJ sets. The register holds no source for who founded it or when, and does not guess. The 2025 edition of the Guida ai migliori beach club d'Italia gave it its highest mark.
Who it is not for
La Scogliera is wrong for anyone who arrives without a booking, because the day's places are capped. It is wrong for someone who wants a wide beach: the sand is a strip and the day is spent on platforms. The sources disagree on children, one saying they are not admitted and another that families are welcome, so a family should ask before booking. For a family-run beach with umbrellas and loungers on pebble at Positano, Fornillo is a short walk from the centre.
